So I was looking through PC Gamer's web site at the list of games expected to be released in 2015 and I have say the list is impressive. Take a look for yourself:

    http://www.pcgamer.com/best-pc-games-2015/#page-1

Some of the games that looked interesting to me are:

    http://www.offworldgame.com/

Off World Trading Company - Designed by Soren the famous designer of Civilization 4 so as you'd expect this is a civ style game. The goal is to run a trading company, build up your position, make money, and eventually monopolize the whole planet by buying out your competition.

    http://www.atthegatesgame.com/

John Schaffer, the designer of Civ 5, has a new civ like project. He botched civ 5 but he used to post at poly so maybe this might be worth checking out.

    http://www.galciv3.com/

Galactic Civilizations 3 - kind of like civ in space but now with way, way, way more detail and moving parts. You'd better have a powerful system with a huge amount of RAM to run this beast but it could be heaven for folks who like highly detailed games.

    http://battle-of-empires.com/

Battle of Empire: 1914-1918 - A WW1 strategy game from a Russian company. It sounds interesting but we'll have to see if the Russian start up can carry it off.

    https://www.paradoxplaza.com/hearts-of-iron-iv?___store=default

Hearts of Iron 4 - Paradox's WW2 game gets a whole new engine and an even higher level of detail. I love this series and will be buying it though if it follows Paradox tradition it might be best to wait until the second expansion pack comes out before you buy it.

    https://robertsspaceindustries.com/

Star Citizen - This is a massive space centric game which promises just about everything with loads of different mini games. It has been mostly funded via crowd sourcing with lots of add ons added to the game via additional crowd sourcing campaigns. If the design team can pull it off this game could be the best open world space game ever. We will see.

What are some of the games you are looking forward to being released i. 2015 and why?

Star Citizen is going to be the most spectacular failure in gaming in recent memory. Chris Roberts has made so many promises he has no chance of meeting them all. Also, if the game isn't absolutely perfect at launch with all of the money people are throwing at him, the press is going to eat him alive.

And honestly, after seeing the cult like mentality most SC supporters demonstrate...I look forward to the carnage.

I don't know, the Wing Commander series has always been well polished and I played the shit out of Wing Commander 2 back in the day. They have released update videos every week for coming up on two years now and they look pretty good. As always the devil will be in the details and there will no doubt be some bugs at launch but this is a huge game. We're talking like 70 GB to install, a persistent open world, 70+ know star systems plus lots of unknown ones to explore, huge numbers of players, so many different levels of play it will be hard to keep track, and not to mention massive numbers of unique NPCs.

This one, if it is polished, would get me to buy a high end gaming rig just for this game.

I'm looking forward to Cities XXL, after the shambles that was Sim City.

I know. I PAID €20 for it on pre-order since that got me a discount, and it turns out to be little more than a patched version of the previous game. I'm not happy. :(

    Botched Civ V?

There were some design differences from previous titles that some people complained about, but the game got 90% on metacritic and with the expansions IMO was the best game in the series. The religion, trade, and late game ideologies were fantastic.

Cities XXL, not Civ V. I have that too - not sure if it's the best in the series but it is damn good.

Yeah, its one of my favorites. I was amazed at the DLCs for that game - each one was an enormous expansion that changed game mechanics and enhanced the game considerably. Love the religion system and the myriad changes in BNW. Only negative in my opinion is the AI isn't very good at waging wars, which is a significant problem. But I'd give ita 9 out of 10 on what it did achieve.

Well based on reviews The Order: 1886 is concentrated fail and aids.

Very short...like 5-6 hours, tons of QTEs, likes to take character control away from you.

Normally I ignore "professional" game reviewers, but when every major site is blasting the game for the exact same reason...there may just be a something to it.

I've been a long time fan of the Civ series and have been playing it since the original Civ game. Civ5 was the worst one 8n the series and 1upt is the source of all their problems.

For my Nintendo system, I am looking forward to the new (untitled) Zelda game. I think it will be amazing.

For my PC, I'm looking forward to the Protoss chapter of Starcraft II.

I don't play a lot of new games, generally tend to stick with retro games (old dos/windows games and old console games).

Battle of Empires isn't looking so good. It is just a series of maps with a live battle at each map. I was hoping for more of a grand strategy game instead of just recreating historic battles.

I don't know if this also includes consoles, but I'm looking forward to Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5. Yeah, who likes those games anymore? Well, I do. I have an Xbox 360, so I'm thrilled they're still making games for it! That said, THPS 5 hearkens back to the old Playstation games which were just so much fun for me. It's mostly nostalgia that's making me want to get the game, but that's enough for now.

Yep, I've spent a whole lot of time playing THPS games. I'm pretty excited for this one too, though I should probably be a little more conscious given their treatment of the series past THUG 1.

I'm still very, very skeptical of Star Citizen. Many of the people in the group I play video games with have bought into the game. Some have spent ridiculous amounts of money on it. If Star Citizen isn't, literally, the greatest game in the history of Video Games, it's going to be a victim of its fan's own hype. The nature of the game is also going to be akin to Eve Online in that you're going to have to join a large group (we're talking hundreds or thousands of players) just to get anywhere and not be slaughtered by griefers. That coupled with the concept of "insurance" so your character doesn't die, permanently, when you're killed is unappealing to me. You can already see the societal issues in the pre-release game ARK and its similarly persistent universe.

Galactic Civilizations 3 is out and looks damn good. Hearts of Iron 4 got pushed back and there is no word on Star Citizen or any of the others (at least not that I have seen).
