The under God part wasn't add until the 1950s. Some stupid fundies thought that would some how smoke out the secret communists.
a profane government claiming the honours of the kingdom of heaven? Calm down, we still have about a year before Hillary takes the reins/climbs on the broom stick.
Every member of any hebrew monotheistic cult expecting society should bend to their ridiculous superstitions.
I laughed my ass off during hot shots when he was writing in his diary and passed his father doing the same thing as an apocalypse now reference and then said they loved each other in Wall Street.
The problem is you're wanting them to violate their sensibilities in order to reinforce your own. It's like telling me I can't be vegetarian because you like steak too much, and that everyone should eat steak. They have every right not to participate in saluting or standing for the flag/national anthem/pledge. No citizen should be forced to take a pledge. It's a fundamental right in the U.S. I thought it was in India, too, but I guess not.
Forgot about that. I did see "The Frightners" once on Camp Pendleton and we did stand for the national anthem.
They closed down the two theaters here on Fort Gordon. One was turned into a "dinner theater" and the other is used basically as a lecture hall. These days with the internet and movies on demand on cable and whatnot, the younger people don't need theaters, and a young demographic (duh!) makes up much of a military base.
This whole debate is fucked up. You know, I really don't see what these people being Muslim has to do with anything. It should be the right of everyone in a free society to refrain from patriotic displays if they so choose, and that really has little to do with the religion the practice, their ethnicity or anything else. What is a flag? A piece of cloth. What is a an anthem? A piece of music or song. What is nationality? A social grouping based on location of both or adopted home. Patriotism should be a choice. Once others are forced into patriotic displays then it becomes as dogmatic as those who would thrust their religion in the face of others.
I wouldn't stand either. I'd sit there picking my nose or snoring as to feign sleep. Fucking standing up for an anthem in a cinema.
Nope. This is not entitled to the Muslims here. That wave of fighting against other religions is gone. See why the anthem is played before every show is to show unity among different cultures in India. And we're educated enough to understand the political powers that led us to fight against each other in the past for their own advantage. There's a movie named Bombay that exactly portrays the behavior of what you thought typical about Muslims in India.
NotDayton is a parody account mocking the oddity that is Dayton3 and his.. unique views of the world.
Look nothing's wrong or right. This could all be made up too. The corruption level here has risen so much that i doubt it. Also, this is how India works. You can't just fuck around unless you've power.
There's a reason why. It's to show unity. In America, i don't think your government needs to show you unity among people of America. We've different cultures here. Ideologies are different too. To bind that into one thread is not easy.
"Join us in pledging allegiance to unity or we'll toss you out" isn't the fastest or most ethical way to engender fealty.
But do you've power to say that out loud? In front of those people who let's say kicking you out of the theatre. P.S. that happening wasn't entitled to the family's religion.
I don't support that. What happened in the theatre was against one's freedom. BUT it's influential to others. Still freedom is freedom but locals here don't think that way. How will you make a difference then?

Mob rule is neither just or ethical, and should never be the rule of law. Being that family, the best thing to make a difference has been done, and that's to show everyone the bullshit happening in that theater. Sometimes, the only way to ensure rights is to tell everyone you know when someone violates them.
Thank you for your answer. But then I have to second @El Chup -- why does the report even mention that they are Muslim?
To gain controversy. Although when it comes to religion, we don't go against the religion. It's past now.
