You know who the most human character on TNG was?
    Q.
    Seriously.
    Think about it.

Come to think of it....yeah, it makes sense. He had passion for life and didn't shy away from conflict, unlike the TNG cast that was better'n everyone.

To be honest, this was one of the few thing Enterprise got right was going in the right direction with regarding their conflict with Archer and T'Pol, and Vulcan by extension. Had TIIC made the former less of an entitled twat and gave the latter more than two reasons for fandom to like her it could've worked as a decent conflict. But even as it were, it sure caught my attention.

Hell, given Mayweather was born and lived in space his entire life, the guy should've been the Tom Paris of the show, if the monkeys didn't hire an actor with the talent of wet paint to play the part.

IMHO, Babylon 5 did a much better job of depicting women. Ivanova and Lochley wore the same uniforms as their male counterparts. Delenn wore loose robes that covered her chest, just like other Minbari.

There was even a plotline about "the friendzone," where Lennier wasn't depicted as an unappreciated and totally deserving potential partner, but rather as an emotionally stunted nutjob who threw away everything because he couldn't accept Delenn simply a friend and mentor.

(Marcus, however, was a more classic interpretation of "the friendzone.")

Post-TOS Trek? TOS was the worst of the lot, unless you grade on a curve.

The only thing that surprised me about Q was that he never broke the fourth wall. And it would have made absolutely perfect sense for him to have done it, too.

I give TOS a partial pass because of the era. 50 years ago, having a black woman on the bridge was progressive, even if she was just answering the phone. Miniskirts were a symbol of liberation, not objectification. :clyde:

So when Gene put them in a skirt it's liberation, when devs put them in a skirt it's exploitation.

Or are we going to pretend notorious skirt chaser Gene Roddenberry was doing it for noble reasons?

Nichelle Nichols asked to have her uniform changed back to the miniskirt for STIII.

What you're not considering is the matter of personal choice.

You're aware that the women playing them are...correct?

I take it you don't want to talk about the RL history of the miniskirt...or the choice in BSG to have the women wear the same uniform as the men...

Yes, and there are thousands of games that don't display women in a sexy way at all. But that doesn't matter does it? It's the fact a few do and that's enough for an attention whore to rally against them to keep her 15 minutes going.

Anyway, not replying to you again on the subject. I know that you know exactly nothing about games, so you are just going to assume the con artist who tells you what you want to hear is telling the truth.

Stargate: SG1 was also pretty decent. Here's a picture of the original team:

Granted, there were female characters (usually villains, usually aliens) that were very sexualized, but the female military members got to dress just like the men!

    But what does that mean?
    There's no grand unified feminism.
There are feminists that agree and disagree with Anita Sarkeesian.
There are feminists that cheered on and loathed what "shirtgate", stood for.
There are feminists that wanted Colbert canceled for a Tweet, and then thought it was perfectly fine for Anita Sarkeesian to go on his show.
There are feminists that think skimpy outfits are empowering and dis-empowering.
Will the "real", feminism please stand up?

This is a good enough reminder that you, Dicky, Dinner, etc., are having a completely different conversation than the rest of us, who you deride as social justice warriors. I read this in Curt Schilling's blog last night:

    https://38pitches.wordpress.com/2015/03/01/the-world-we-live-in-man-has-it-changed/

It's a bit long, but it's also very clever, and very much takes down the concept that bullying and stalking by twitter is okay and not misogynistic. For those who don't read it, he tweeted that he was proud of his daughter for being recruited by Salve Regina university to play softball. That resulted in the kind of assholes who have harassed Sarkeesian tweeting all kinds of disgusting comments about his daughter. He takes them down, and it's beautiful.

Let me be clear on something, because the three of you who believe we are attacking gamers, you have completely missed the point of this and the other threads. We are against sexual harassment. We are against cyber bullying and stalking. We are against death threats. I don't actually care whether some games objectify women, I really don't. I may find it distasteful, and will say as much, but if that's your thing, that's fine. And no, you don't need to go to pains to demonstrate that it's not your thing. If you say it isn't, I believe you. Sarkeesian does care about it, though, as is her right. The response to what she has to say, has been disgusting. Ask yourself if you really want to put yourself in that camp. And if you don't, then understand that arguing against my statement that she has a right to speak without harassment means that you are, in fact, very much in that camp.

You are going to have to explain that a bit more, since you seem to be attributing somebody else's post to one of us. By the way, this kind of obfuscation and intentional missing of the point is why your credibility could use some work.

No what you're actually against is a hand full of trolls that you and your hero are pretending are a representative sample of gamers.

A few people troll them about rape and murder (yes, very bad taste), and Anita plays it up as a representation of gamers and useful idiots completely believe her.

But you've been told this multiple times and I expect you will still continue to shove your fingers in your ears and hum loudly.

So why don't you go after trolls in general on the internet? Because it's certainly not just women who get this shit from them.

Until then, how's it feel to be a useful idiot?

Maybe you watched that video, and didn't care, maybe you skipped over it because Captain X posted it, maybe you skipped because it had "porn", in the title.
None of those cast you in a favorable light.
And I just let it sit.
    And age like a cheese.
While you hypocrites made yourselves more and more ridiculous with every pat if each other's backs.
It's been quite a show. :munch:

But the show is over, and your morals are a joke.
    And you're done.

    Good day to you, gul.
