YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Fires joygasm energy out of eyes, mouth, nostrils, and hands at fire hose intensity to avoid exploding* http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2015/07/10/batman-the-killing-joke-gets-an-animated-adaptation
So, yeah, that'll finish it off. All the greatest graphic novels of the 80's & 90's have been adapted. Dark Knight Returns, Year One, Watchmen, Sin City, 300, Death Of Superman, now this. All that's left, is if they can get Swamp Thing into "Justice League Dark", and toss in an Ambush Bug cameo into "Supergirl". Then I can die happy.
SO glad it's Timm doing it instead of who ever has been in charge of the mostly drab stuff they've been doing since he quit Can we PLEASE talk Conroy and Hamel into ONE more project? Just this one?
He Tweeted 5 years ago that that's the one project he'd come out of Joker retirement for. Since then, he's been Luke and Trickster, so....
Instead of writing original screenplays for the Batman movies, why don't they just adapt these kinds of works for live action? Like they did with Watchmen?
Ultimately, and I suppose it will never happen, I'd love to see Batman get a treatment like Daredevil as a streaming series, and just adapt the best storytelling from all the comics to the format of the show - integrate all the best stuff into one cohesive storyline. Hell, I wouldn't even care if it was animated if it was done right. I don't know how many of them you could do justice to as feature films
A lot of these stories have been used in the movies. Many elements from the Killing Joke were in the first Batman movie for instance.
Inside sources say that not only has Hamill been signed up, he's already recorded his parts!!! http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...ficial-for-batman-the-killing-joke-adaptation
A tangential aside... In this month's issue of Justice League, Batman winds up sitting in Metron's chair and thus gaining access to all the knowledge in the universe. One of the first things he asks is "What's the Joker's real name?" When he gets the response (which we don't hear) he whispers "That's not possible."
If they had any balls, they'd say that his name was something like Richard Stanton or Robert Frank, and leave it at that.
Damn you, now I have to read that issue. I am always disappointed by DC comics nowadays, but now I just can't resist.
Hamill and Conroy finally confirmed!!!!!!!!! http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...n-conroy-mark-hamill-star-batman-killing-joke
Hamill tweeted an image! http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...l-from-batman-the-killing-joke-animated-movie
Underwhelming. I've never been a big comic book person but Batman and Superman were the ones I read when young. The Killing Joke was the best I ever read and that image just doesn't represent what I have on my shelf, nor am I a fan of MH as The Joker (sorry uber nerds and Dicky ). I don't think this will be done justice. Just wish someone would have the balls to do a live action take on it...
I've loved The Killing Joke since I first read it many, many years ago. I'm really looking forward to this. I can already hear Conroy and Hamill doing that last scene.
Thanks to Deadpool, I expect every superhero movie for the next two years at least will try to push that particular envelope, no matter how befitting it is to the story they're telling.
They had approval before Deadpool, but I'm sure it helps. This story needs R. Everyone should read the comic. http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Killing-Joke-Deluxe-Edition/dp/1401216676
if they go R and it succeeds big, I hope it paves the way for really ambitiousa animated storytelling that's not tailored to a audience made up largely of kids. One of my dream series is a Batman series, done in the animation style of the Arkham games that starts at the very beginning, doing "Year One" type stories, whether or not the exact tale from that book, in a sort of "Daredevil (the series) sensibility. Run it about 10-12 seasons and grow the Bat-verse from the ground up - and do serious shit, not ridiculous villains like the Ventriloquist.
Whelp, hope y'all busted your slow lazy asses, and caught that 12 minute preview I posted, cuz Warners killed it, and I can't even find copies.
