He doesn't seem to have been an agreeable guy but despite his own chequered past, he began to work against the excesses of the Russian regime and was granted political asylum in the UK. There he became a close associate of Alexander Litvinenko, the victim of a gruesome murder by Russian intelligence services. He survived several attempts on his life. And now he's been found dead in the bath, ostensibly from "suicide". But it seems all may not be above board.
The cops were in checking the place for dangerous materials, including radioactive etc. But nothing confirmed yet.
