As far as fighting back against corrupt journalism, well, I'd say it goes a step further to make advertisers aware of what they're paying for. I haven't participated myself, but I've seen how effective the movement as a whole has been by doing that, and the reaction from these sites is hilarious when an advertiser pulls their ads after reading some of the content their ads are being posted on.

Except that Anita Sarkeesian said in a previous panel, prior to her video series kickstarter, that she didn't like video games because she found them to be gross because she felt they were all about killing people in graphic ways. Furthermore, she said she had to actually do research into gaming in order to understand it for her presentation. This contradicts the statements she's made since, claiming that she's been a gamer since she was a young child.

As far as how she's like Jack Thompson, Jack Thompson claimed the violent games caused violence, and now she's making the same claim about sexism.

Source, please. She has been working on games for quite a while before her kickstarter campaign, and has always identified as a gamer. If she once claimed the opposite, completely out of the blue, it should be worth examining whether that is actually the case.

One of the best–ok, maybe the only–good thing to come out of #GamerGate has been the #ActuallyEthics meme. We all know that “ethixxx” has served as a cover for the worst kind of misogyny, but many GGer’s still it’s insist this is all about journalistic integrity. #ActuallyEthics takes aim at this stubborn insistence by taking screenshots of well-known movies/comics/television shows and adding the words “Actually, it’s about ethics in game journalism.” Most of these screenshots are funny, but some are sublime.

Even still, that doesn't justify 4Chan doxxing her and rape threats.

Uh, no. Both of those were always well known by their real names in addition to their pseudonyms, and stating their real names was pretty much the extent of the alleged "doxing" against them. c.f. every woman who's had her address, phone number, and the addresses and phone numbers of friends and family released by gamergate assholes and the like, leading to death and rape threats by people who know where they and their loved ones live.

In any event, both of those men are hard-core misogynist harassers and releasing their real names, even if they hadn't already been out there, would be an entirely appropriate response to their actions. Those fuckers damn well should have their names attached to their actions for all potential employers to see.
