I actually blame the success of TFA in December. Now the suits know it's a profitable month after all.
That thought had occurred to me: it isn't so much delayed, as moved into a spot that now seems conducive for $2 billion box office receipts (mainly, no other summer blockbusters to duke it out with).
In slightly happier news, the new solo Spider-Man has been moved from July 28th 2017 to July 7th 2017.
I had always assumed it would be a full 2 years. Releasing another one in 18 months would have been extremely quick.
No, the characters sucks ass and has always sucked ass. Spider-Man? WTF? The comics came up with some cool characters and villains, however, but Peter Parker and Spider-Man just never did it for me. I did like the Sam Raimi movies when they originally came out, but they don't hold up on repeat viewings. The Marc Webb films were a train wreck. We now take this thread back to Star Wars, which is infinitely more interesting...
I wish Star Trek movies would return to December openings. of course I wish for decent Star Trek movies as well and that's not happening....
Your idea of a "decent" Star Trek movie would be a box office disaster the likes of which have never been seen in history. The financial ruin caused by the film would send the global economy into recession. In fact, it would be so bad that not only would Paramount and CBS cancel any plans for any type of future Trek, the studio executives would commit mass suicide and employees would be directed to destroy anything Star Trek-related including sets, props, digital copies, etc. Further, Homeland Security would deploy tactical teams to conduct no-knock raids on peoples' homes to find and destroy all copies of any Star Trek film or television show. The NSA would create a supervirus that would hunt down and destroy any digital copies of movies or video games related to Trek. William Shatner himself would be brought to trial for crimes against humanity. Trek as we know it would cease to exist. That's how bad your idea of a "decent" Star Trek movie would be.
Really? I don't remember The Wrath of Khan or The Undiscovered Country being box office disasters. You fail. Again.
Well, you, ShootER, Anna and the others have gotten to where you ignore people trying to start trouble outside the Red Room and don't say anything until someone gets annoyed and retaliates.
If they've never bothered to do this with "My Heart Will Go On" then they won't go after some nerd flick.
I don't start trouble outside the Red Room. Just as I did not in this thread. You did with your statements insulting me in Post #10. If you're going to post it, own it.
You believe in unequal application of the rules. John Castle was a terrible poster but you banned him simply because you did not like him (he later actually did something worthy of a permaban) where as a few posters you like can get away with totally obvious rules violations and you just spin really lame excuses.
What I hate is when you are being trolled by someone the advice is always to "Ignore it and they'll stop". So, a person who is NOT violating the rules, should simply ACCEPT people violating the rules and attacking them..... Basically what the moderators here are doing is making people who obey the rules responsible for those who disobey the rules and effectively encouraging those who violate the rules getting to censor those who obey the rules.
See, here's an example of you flaming, trolling, and making an off topic comment, all in one post. If we kept to the standards you demand for Chup, I'd have to warn you. Should I do that?
That is a legitimate question based upon your actions and even you know it. When you repeatedly and deliberately say untrue things people start to wonder.
It's not related to the thread, you idiot. Seriously folks, get back on topic. This is the last friendly.
The timetable seemed impossible anyway. Creating VII in 18 months or something was probably only possible because the script had been finished even before Disney bought up the Franchise.
Agree about the timetable, but I'm not so sure the script was finished before Disney bought the franchise. We do know that the script and characters went through many revisions before we finally got what was on screen. Also, based on interviews with Lucas, it appears that Disney completely ignored him on the production of VII.
Also, keep in mind that episode VII was originally scheduled for a Summer release, but was pushed back in large part because the script required a significant re-write. Somebody up thread suggested it is about money, and I'm prepared to buy that explanation. The Force Awakens completely owned the holiday season, they want the same for the next one.
I agree completely. Star Wars mania at the same time people are buying toys and games for the holidays?
