The board of education doesn’t disburse funds to schools. In Illinois, the majority of school funding comes from property taxes within a township. When splitting funds among schools, there are laws to follow - and that includes state funding. Just because the Chicago board of education is all black, does not mean they control which schools get more or less funding.

Obviously, I'm coming from a different place that Paladin on this issue, but I do know that in general Asians have not had the same barriers as blacks and indigenous people. Sure, California didn't allow Chinese to mine for gold in the 1850s and 60s, but they weren't barred from opening up restaurants and laundries to support the ones that could. Asian ingenuity has as much to do with the cultures they grew up with as much as necessity once they got here.

I feel for Whoopi. I have always been a fan. She talks about race as something she can see-and knowing what race people are, I found that very interesting. It was always my understanding that Hitler wanted only blond haired blue eyed people on this earth....I assume he wanted everyone else killed.
She is talking about the evils-but it is almost as if she feels something about the evils she as a black person has gone through or any black person, verses a jew. But that probably isn't the case.
I think for myself if I knew I was about to go on tv to talk about the holocaust I would make sure I had my terms down and didn't say anything wrong-maybe she feels she is exempt from saying something wrong on the subject, which is also interesting.
And then at the end she once again says, "Its not racial" and she talks about how will we teach children about what happened in Germany.
I get what she is saying. I don't think she has to be canceled-I think it is better to continue the discussion about it and it is always a good learning lesson for those willing to learn.

I think your insight is correct. I think whoopi is a decent person who was trying to express her feelings from her experience. That experience is as a black american. What she was saying is a perspective from a person who has suffered from a visible racist separation. I am not sure if she is not aware, or did not think of, the reality that the ideas jews were another race were much stranger back in those days, to the point jews were considered as different from anglo saxons as black people were. Her view is valid and I think should be heard and discussed because I do not think she harbors a desire to nullify the racist ideas of the time.

People bring up the example of all lives matter being an attempt to strip the BLM movement of meaning, but from a truly unprejudiced person that is the base of what is right. It is just that the racists try to pervert that while maintaining their ideals. In this case I think Whoopie is not trying to do that sort of thing, but the anti-semetic history of europe and america is a much more white culture thing. Black americans have a different experience with jews than white europeans/americans

I do not know if The View or Whoopie are capable of the in depth discussion of how these different facets of prejudice manifest, and how they are all a part of how humans mistreat each other. I would rather them take this couple of weeks to make a few shows that focus on all of these issues and their nuances. I think they have the audience, and it is a good time to present a really in depth discussion from multiple viewpoints on these issues. I do not see it happening, but maybe that also could fall on us to communicate in our spheres and to our children to let them know there are different perspectives to these issues. As a black woman Whoopie would be below jews in the american racist ladder. If you talk about punching up, if you think it was punching, whoopie was commenting on people who would have been "above" her in our society.

This is just my perception as a white person born male in america so that is just my view and I do not want to say it invalidates any others.

Whoopi has earned a lot of good will, in my opinion. The problem is A)she’s spent a good portion of her life claiming to be Jewish and B) theView in particular, has been a show that has condemned the human race for damn near eve thing. C) Not to defend Hitler, but the Nazis had degrees of Jewishness, so if you were 1/3 Jew, for example, you didn’t necessarily face the gas’ chamber. Believe it or not, the Nazis did have nuance. Not that that excuses their behavior.
