I've mentioned it before in this thread, but it's worth bearing again that there are countries who actually got most of our overseas cases from the USA. If the whole situation wasn't so tragic it would be hilarious to have people like Zombie attacking China, saying that Trump did nothing wrong, while the slow reaction of the USA (including Trump actively downplaying/"cheerleading" the numbers) is responsible for not insignificant global spread.
Large amounts of infection in the US also came from europe and the middle east. It is what unites us globally as humans. Diseases like this do not care about borders, they are not racist. They hit everyone, and they can come from anywhere. There may be some cultural holes we can fill up, but this is being human and we all get infected. It is not the chinese who are our enemy or to blame, it is the disease. If we all worked together better we would be able overcome this shit better and faster. It is actually our borders and our separations that cripple us in these situations. That is because we have to take time with knowledge going across boundaries, we keep secrets which ruin data, and we fight each other over who is to blame while we should be working together to find a treatment and vaccine. If this had popped up and we had the world working on the vaccine we would be way ahead of our present position now. There are some things which are beyond petty nationalistic and cultural differences.
nope no dual been here (mostly as a lurker) since the 'migration' from the TREKbbs years and years ago when it first started i can't remember all the names but i do remember Cassandra, Red Whacker etc......
just havin' a little fun no harm intended trying to keep the mind sharp. At almost 65 years old the mind is about the only thing i can 'exercise' these days
Saw some expert or other on Fox yesterday asked if the president was right that opening the country was up to him alone, and the guy said emphatically no, no, no, wrong, it's up to individual state governors and the pres has no legal say. The anchor looked a little upset.
You should really read the thread. I mean, I get what they're saying, but...wow. Did no one at RPD take a constitutional law class in college or at the academy? That's a big PR blunder in an agency that's big enough to know better. This isn't the Mayberry Sheriff's Office with Barnie on Twitter.
Seems New York missed a few COVID deaths... NYC Death Toll Jumps by 3700 After Uncounted Fatalities are Added So supposing you backfill the US death toll numbers, weighted towards recency... the plateau is gone. We're still climbing, albeit probably linearly.
Trump just defunded the WHO. In our present situation that's a crime against humanity. His behavior is only going to get worse. Americans need to get rid of him, right now. What a fucking unconscionable prick.
What an utter moron. All this will do is drive the WHO deeper under China's control. Has he never heard of a buy-out? (I guess not; he's much more familiar with bankruptcy, after all)
well it looks like some of the North Carolina residents aren't exactly "team players" in the struggle to reign in the virus! https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/p...g-governors-order/ar-BB12D7EM?ocid=spartandhp
