We kinda do. Since we're funding them. Y'know, like we had to take our lumps over the questionable allies we sought for the War On Terror? The guy who had his opponents boiled alive? Uzbekistan? Whose bodyguards were trained by Western forces? For what? Airstrips for bombing runs? Renditions? You might not lose sleep about that. I bet their families do.
This is a rather unfair and dishonest argument in a globalised world and economy full of entanglements, where really every ally or trading partner has dirt on them. Ideological purity is simply outside any reality. Completely utopian. We would have to stop all trade with China tomorrow for example, which would break our back.
Up until recently I was not as bothered. It was at the point where Elon started using twitter to directly fund people like Tate for making Xeets on the Xeeter to get more views and advertising money that I have really started to become militantly anti-twitter and it's users. When a company is directly paying their nazi contributors and no one else then it becomes important to not use that company. Yes, by bringing business to whatever the fuck elon will call Twitter next week, you are supporting a platform that pays nazis. You would be better to go use stormfront because as far as I know they do not pay their posters for their rhetoric. Every use of twitter from the day Elon did this is a day of support for monetizing nazis for nazi bullshit. I do not want to even click on it because of that. If you can be complicit with support of white supremacy, human trafficking, and right wing hate then that is up to you.
Ironically, the methodology used by that site seems more than a little suspect. But even at that, it lists Al Jazeera as "mixed", hardly the ludicrous chicanery suggested. So, I see that you browsed the Twitter replies and decided that the claims of one responder were authoritative, ignoring the others who pointed out his errors and omissions. Excuse me if I question your stridency for unbiased sources.
Really? The US-China relationship is not an equivalent to the US-Israeli one. Israel is just about the closest ally of the US, and Israeli expansionist policy is not some unfortunate side-issue in a trading relationship but an integral part of and reason for the relationship, one which the US has the power to alter at any time of its choosing.
I'm actually fine with stopping trade with China. They steal our IP, they use slave labor and they take away jobs from the American people.
A guy who Fox used to taint-lick turns out to be a flat out color bigot? Shocking! This has never happened before!
Hamas militant group launches unprecedented operation against Israel with rockets and infiltration This isn't going to end well for anyone.
Reports are coming out that as Israeli civilians hid in bunkers from the at least hundreds and possibly thousands of rockets launched indiscriminately at their homes, that Hamas terrorists then went into at least one shelter and massacred the civilians hiding there. Including children. Supposedly they filmed it and uploaded it to Twitter. I won't go looking for that one, guess I'll wait to see if it's true. I have seen the one where they killed an Israeli woman, ripped her clothes off and are parading her around to the cheers of those Palestinians around them. And the one where they infiltrated a barracks and shot Israeli soldiers still sleeping. And another one were they are parading around an Israeli soldier. Shits about to get real ugly, and of course the innocent people in Gaza are going to be involved. My guess is Netanyahu starts sending the Mossad after Hamas leadership, many of whom live out of country.
Christ, no way Israel doesn't respond to this in a massive way. Israel has been pushing with their settlements and displacements, but nothing justifies something like this.
The Israeli Security Council has reportedly approved a ground operation in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Netanyahu in a call with US President Biden said that the country faces a long campaign, but that they will emerge victorious. https://bsky.app/profile/noelreports.bsky.social/post/3kb66zmczjb2d
BREAKING: Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid says he told Netanyahu he is ready to form an emergency unity government that will run the war https://x.com/barakravid/status/1710677787969716245
Initial assessments suggest IDF was heavily understaffed in Gaza due to (1) the Jewish holiday, and (2) significant diversion of forces from Gaza to the West Bank to defend crazy right wing settlers zealots for political points. When the right starts blameimg Israeli left, remember this. https://bsky.app/profile/omrimarian.bsky.social/post/3kb6apj6lxs2c
100 dead Israelis, 900 wounded, unknown kidnapped (reliable sources). 200 dead Gazans, 1600 wounded (not reliable).
It's going to get much, much worse when ground forces go in. Not sure what the endgame is here. Difficult to express how unprecedented this is. It is not just another repeat of what we've been seeing for the past couple of decades.
For Israel? Brutal and disproportionate violence and destruction in the hopes of terrorizing Hamas and the Palestinians into no longer attacking Israelis. Which is terrible, but I honestly understand why they're doing it and I'm currently in no mood so say they don't have the right to do so. For Hamas? Saudi Arabia and Iran have been moving closer to normalizing relations with Israel for a while, after the UAE did in 2020. I'm guessing Hamas realized that if the trend continues they'll eventually get thrown under the bus by all of their traditional allies and the international money would stop coming in, so they needed to do something huge to undermine it. TLDR: It's a fundraising bloodbath.
This is what the innocent palestinians get for tolerating Hamas because they sometimes help them. Hamas wants a war, and this will force it despite any assistance they gave in medicine or food to the poor palestinians. OTOH Isreal has had a huge section of it's people supporting nentin warmonger yahoo in his quest to solidify his power through putting Isreal into a war. So this is a war, and both sides have pushed for it. The US right wing had better take notes because this is what the fly over states and cities are going to look like if you keep tolerating right wing domestic terrorism and not putting the terrorists in jail and voting out people like Trump, MTG, Bobert, Desantis, and every other person calling for a religious bloody revolution. Eventually they will start blowing shit up to force the innocent into their war. This is what happens when you tolerate terrorism. The church groups who speak of bloody genocide to trans and gay people or abortion and women's rights will eventually blow shit up when they feel desperate, and you need to take their guns away and use the patriot act to monitor and disrupt any plans they have for terrorist actions through arrest, prosecution and jailing. If not this will be what our neighborhoods look like because the right is looking to force a war by blowing shit up.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-67040221.amp It's never too early for conspiracy theories. How did Israeli intelligence not see this coming from a mile away? Or did they?
This is 9/11 adjacent in terms of dropping the ball. And if anything it is a bigger W.T.F. It wasn’t 20 something people able to hide their plans from an intelligence service focused on the entire globe but THOUSANDS of people literally a MILE AWAY able to hide these preparations. Some folks are saying that due to Netanyahu being forced by his coalition partners to use the IDF to protect the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank that Gaza wasn’t being properly secured. It is still early. We’ll see.
Ukraine says OMG look at what Russia did to our cities. Hamas says hold our fucking beer. Russia says our army is the most powerful and we will kick Ukraine's ass. Isreal says hold our fucking beer. The republicans say look at our forever wars in Iraq and Afganistan. Mike Pence says hold my non alcoholic beer type beverage mom.
Where the heck did they get the materiel to pull off this attack? Landing craft, motorized paragliders, drones? And yet it's only Hamas and Islamic Jihad involved, not Hezbollah?
