Article says "Ohio bans abortion after the one and half month mark," which is basically the same thing, given most women take six weeks to notice a second skipped period. https://www.buzzfeed.com/emaoconnor/ohio-passes-law-that-bans-abortion-after-a-month-and-a-half Given that Texas' Enterpriser game was shut down on this by SCOTUS a while back, I don't see how this one can hold up, either. But hey, the GOP doesn't hate women!
He might. He has long said that Roe v. Wade is settled law, but who knows with the way things have swung around politically? Our branch of the ACLU is already gearing up to fight if he does sign it into law. I expect it to be struck down, for now.
Hopefully with a new Supreme Court Justice (hopefully Ted Cruz) this will be upheld and dozens of more states will follow suit until one day the horrid practice of elective abortions will be ended in the U.S. and eventually around the world.
Some day, we'll have full control over women's bodies again, and we'll never let those silly headed females make their own decisions again!
So if a woman is raped they have no choice but to bear that child for 9 months and then either orphan the child or bear the financial burden of having another dependent? I don't suppose you'll be helping out with those costs or taking care of that child?
The real problem is that bubble-headed bimbos like you try to equate disallowing on-demand abortion with "hating women." I happen to care more about the life of the defenseless unborn child than I do whether some girl who got herself knocked up doesn't want to face the consequences of her actions. Her guilt/regret/panic isn't justification for killing the unborn.
It always baffles me that the party that considers itself committed to a strict interpretation of the Constitution supports deliberately stuffing the Supreme Court with judges to overturn a constitutionally protected basic human freedom. The hypocrisy boggles the mind.
We've wanted to adopt a baby for years. And pregnancies resulting from rape are so extremely rare in western nations as to not be worth factoring in. Though to be compassionate I do support rape and incest exceptions or in case of the mothers life and physical health being endangered
Well, let's see who's going to be cheerleading for Team BabyMurder tonight.... So far we have John & Packard, to be quickly followed by Anna & 14th Douche. Dickynoo will make an appearance at some point.
I've been told over and over that abortion IS NOT a form of birth control and is not to be used as such. And why should anything be "free"?
It only boggles your mind because you have a capacity for empathy, and an ability to think outside the very tiny box in which they live.
@The Flashlight : You're on my ignore list. It is my sincere hope that everyone puts you on their ignore list as well. You are irrelevant, you contribute nothing, and if you left, the board would be richer for it.
No. there will always be those who will abort when they find they are pregnant. I think we all would rather they had a legal abortion, reducing the risks to the woman from the surgery, including the risk of sterility. Keep the surgery legal. Work on ways to make it the last option for a woman. That means look at why the woman started to consider it as an option when finding out she was pregnant. And please don't tell the woman to think of those who can't have babies. You aren't the one carrying that child, possibly having complications from the pregnancy. And guys, remember, there was only one immaculate conception. You are at least 50% of the cause of a woman considering the surgery
Neither abortion nor the supposed "privacy right" is mentioned at all in any part of the constitution. Thus it is NOT a constitutionally protected right. It is a "right" only in the sense that it was "discovered" by 7 Supreme Court justices with an agenda. What 7 justices have done can be undone and a right that is "discovered" can also be "buried".
It isn't a lack of empathy, dipshit. Just a choice of who deserves my empathy more. A woman who is panicking because pregnancy will disrupt her weekend social plans, or a defenseless unborn baby. I choose to value the baby more than the woman's convenience.
k If that was the case then why did the number of abortions in the U.S. skyrocket after Roe V. Wade. And so what if some women are able to find a way to have an abortion? Laws don't have to be perfect to be good, moral, and useful.
If you guys honestly think you're going to get somewhere with Dayton, then I have a bridge to sell you. After more than a decade of being utterly oblivious to anyone who doesn't think like he does, he's not going to change now. I, for one, am not going to engage him anymore. I have had my fill of stupid people, especially those who defy all logic and manage not to drown while standing in a rainstorm.
