If racist flags are so bad, how come the Democrats are running Hillary for President when her husband approved a new Arkansas state flag that uses the most prominent star on it to commemorate the Confederacy?

    DC link

The blue star above the word "ARKANSAS" is to commemorate the Confederate States of America.

    signed: Bill Clinton.

Yep, you're right. No one has changed their positions on anything in 23 years.

It shouldn't surprise you that people who are, themselves, too inflexible or stupid to be capable of evolving would have trouble believing that others can do it.

So the Clintons didn't change their position in the 127 years after the Civil War ended, during all the Jim Crow era, the Civil Rights era, or the Reagan era, they just did it lately when nobody was paying attention? How convenient.

Meanwhile Bill has no problem flying to an island of teenage sex slaves - because slavery is cool.

Bill Clinton identified in lawsuit against his former friend and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein who had 'regular' orgies at his Caribbean compound that the former president visited multiple times
      • The former president was friends with Jeffrey Epstein, a financier who was arrested in 2008 for soliciting underage prostitutes
      • A new lawsuit has revealed how Clinton took multiple trips to Epstein's private island where he 'kept young women as sex slaves'
      • Clinton was also apparently friends with a woman who collected naked pictures of underage girls for Epstein to choose from
      • He hasn't cut ties with that woman, however, and invited her to Chelsea's wedding
    NY Post link
Just a few weeks ago, reports broke that Bill Clinton had flown at least 11 times on “The Lolita Express” — a private plane owned by the mysterious financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. According to Virginia Roberts, who claims to have been one of Epstein’s many teenage sex slaves, Clinton also visited Epstein’s private Caribbean retreat, known as “Orgy Island.”

“I remember asking Jeffrey, ‘What’s Bill Clinton doing here?’” Roberts said in 2011. The former president, she added, was accompanied by four young girls during his stay — two of whom were among Epstein’s regular sex partners. “And [Jeffrey] laughed it off and said, ‘Well, he owes me a favor.’ He never told me what favors they were.”

Clinton also spent years traveling and partying with Ron Burkle, a billionaire bachelor with a penchant for very young girls. Clinton spent so much time on Burkle’s private plane that it came to be known in Burkle’s circle as “Air F—k One.”
He seems to have no qualms about visiting the plantation.

@gliar is just recycling a lie I completely debunked when he last raised it. Worth noting: nowhere does anybody actually say Clinton did anything suggested by gliar; the so-called orgy island is a resort and conference center; Clinton was there because he had been invited to a conference.

Yeah, gturd's story is akin to showing a picture of Obama in the same room as Putin and concluding that Obama's the mastermind behind the Russian incursion into Ukraine.

No way Bill Clinton would ever wet his willie with anyone but Hillary. No way at all. He just likes going to lots of conferences with a convicted pedophile to not see the collection of teenage sex slaves.

The flag in question waves over a memorial for fallen confederate soldiers. Most of those men fought to protect their land and to defend against what they perceived to be an invading army. The flag represents their sacrifice. I suppose people take pride in that sacrifice and that heritage. I suppose they take pride in the past and the ideals of the past and I'm not talking about slavery, but southern hospitality, southern pride, the ideals of the founders, etc..

gturner, I loathe Bill Clinton as few people do but these ridiculous "orgie suggestions" and such are complete BS. Those things have never been Clintons style. He enjoys behind the scenes exercises of power over individual women not some exhibitionists crap.

Here is the thing, it wasn't to save slavery as slavery wasn't in any danger. The southerners worked thems elves into an irrational tizzy, as they still are want to do today, because Abe said he didn't want slavery extended to new areas but that he was perfectly fine allowing it to remain in existing areas.

Southerners, as their declaration of independence and the speeches made at the time made clear, then worked themselves up with imaginary boogeymen claiming Abe was some how going to abolish slavery. It is their own stupidity and irrationality which caused them to go off half cocked and get a generation slaughtered.

You see this same type of absolutism and irrationality out of them to this day.

It's sort of a "stick it to the man" attitude. In this case "the man" would be the north. Lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for and all that. I'm a transplanted Yankee so I don't have any real skin in the game compared to a lot of folks around here.

Here's the thing about registering cars - we all use public roadways and interact with other cars on a daily basis. Cars generate a ton of revenue when it comes to insurance, tax on gas, etc. They are worth many thousands of dollars per car versus a few hundred for an average gun. Thus it's good to register and regulate and track cars. Registering guns serves little purpose, probably because a background check and a sales receipt cover all the bases.

If I could I would kill all pimps. Nothing wrong with prostitution, I just think all prostitutes should practice their trade under their own terms.

Fritz Hollings, a Democrat Senator until 2005, put up the Confederate Flag over the South Carolina capitol building. He still writes for HuffPo. Maybe someone should ask him about it.

    Problem there.

Cotton exhausted the soil which meant that given the farm technology in that day and age, the cotton growing industry had to expand and slavery with it.

Politically, everybody in the U.S. could see the writing on the wall that unless slavery was allowed to expand into new areas the free states of the U.S. would eventually decisively outnumber slave states. This would give the free states a decisive edge in the U.S. Senate and even in the electoral college. This underlying premise was what was behind the Missouri Compromise. Free state/slave state balance.

Thus, Lincolns call to not allow the expansion of slavery anyone could see was an eventual death knell for the institution of slavery.

In a real sense, the south had been placated for a generation, going back to Andrew Jackson with American presidents (including the last two before Lincoln) who were considered "pro south" even if they did come from the North. Lincoln was the first president who was definitely both anti slavery (and seen as) pro northern interests. Not to mention that the new Republican Party had kicked ass in the 1858 midterms and was seen as definitely a rising political force.

But since most people don't give a shit about history, they don't realize that the north profited from slavery because much of the cotton picked got sent to the mills in the north. But hey, out of sight out of mind, right? And the mills in the north exported their goods to Europe so...DAMN! Europe was enabling the slavery. So everyone is complicit because the US didn't pick their own cotton. But you have to point a finger at someone, and the south was holding the hot potato when the shit hit the fan, so they are the fall guy.
