Private citizens want it, get a sticker...
But as i said, the state shouldn't issue official items with the flag on it because it can be seen as the state sanctioning racism...
But as long as it isn't officially banned, feel free to plaster it all over your property...
Just be prepared a lot of people wont like it and might force you to take the stuff down, either by force or by a lawsuit...

Thank you for that, it is very much appreciated.

Do you think it would be fair to say that Walmart does profit essentially from bad working conditions abroad, just that "sweatshop" might be overstating things? Moving to Africa when conditions in Asia improve sounds as if that is the case.

Thank you Walmart, Amazon, etc. Dixie Outfitters will most likely have increased business now. I'm surprised nobody has been bitching about this place yet!

Anyone want to explain to gtard, T.R and the likes the difference between official campaign merchandise and shit created by random supporters or ratfuckers? Explain to them that essentially anyone can slap whatever they want to on a button design and get it printed up at a reasonable price? Explain to them that literally no one claims that no racists support any Democrats and that claims about party tendencies and candidate beliefs are not contradicted by examples of individual supporters being shitheads?

Obama has done this too. I think all politicians do it really - it's pretty much required.

What about Ronald Reagan? IIRC the biggest policy change he made was going from advocating a 30% income tax cut to a 25% income tax cut.

Republican Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has ordered the Democrat flags removed from the grounds of the state capitol.

    USA Today link

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — With no fanfare, Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley ordered the removal of four Confederate flags from a memorial at the Alabama State Capitol on Wednesday amid a growing controversy over their official display in the wake of the killing of African Americans at a South Carolina church.

The first to be taken down was the so-called battle flag, followed by the First National Confederate flag, known as the "Stars and Bars," the Second National Confederate Flag and the Third National Confederate Flag. All four had been removed by 10 a.m.

ah, but to the true believers, to reinvent the symbols meaning IS to destroy it. Neo-Confederates and their unwitting pawns (or secret sympathizers) would be just as outraged if you sought to re-purpose the symbol (who knows for WHAT) as just simply banning it outright

well, inthe case of the particular discussion at hand, I'm down with all of that - so long as we note the distinction between you, the individual, doing that and any official act of government doing so.

maybe something with a rich oligarch with a ignorant soldier on a leash? Though that might go well beyond just a representation of the Confederate soldier alone...

Ah, if only it had STOPPED being a symbol of racism in 1865...

In the 20th century, it's primary and almost (apart from Confederate Memorial services) exclusive context was racism. I can see and relate to the argument that in it's original context it's primary context was "fighting for your home loyalties" (and in those days state loyalty was even more important than national loyalty, as RE Lee demonstrates) but because of the motives of their political leaders it was stained with the secondary context of standing for slavery - BUT even if that is granted, it's 20th century context trumps all that.

Ad the American flag analogy is not appropriate either, because racism is not it's only or even primary context.

as mentioned above, there is an obvious distinction between private displays and official displays (albeit, a state license plate probably represents the latter)

Awesome song! And ironic since only one member was from The South - Levon Helm. But the best version BY FAR is the Black Crows live.
