Yeah, last night's episode is probably my favorite of the whole series so far, for exactly the reasons you mention. Plus, the two characters I disliked the most (Dale and Shane) were killed off last season.

My daughter is starting to watch the whole series from the beginning and I warned her that she may get mad because the group does really stupid things during the first two seasons. I was glad to see that they've finally wised up.

I would complain about them shooting distance shots on moving targets with pistols with such accuracy... but then I remind myself I'm watching a show that is about the dead rising to attack the living and I think maybe I'm suspending reality on larger issues already so I should just let that slide.

They mentioned towns and roads that I've been on before (since this takes place in Georgia)! That's cool!

I'm the same way, though I do find that more believable than how they were getting head shots from moving, bouncing vehicles in last season's finale.

This gives me hope for the series. I personally thought season 2 was way too tedious. Previews for later eps have me worried though. Looks like the military is still partially intact.

I can believe that about Herschel. It happened in the graphic novels, although I can't recall if it was Herschel or Dale. Dale was still alive at this point in the books and they still had his RV.

I guess some people were disappointed with Season 2; I just caught up on it a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty good, even with all the .

Still, more zombies can only make it better.

^ I don't have the time to watch people sit around in close-up and talk, talk and talk some more. When I watch a series, I watch it for a specific reason. This one is about zombies so give me goddamned zombies *grrrrr* S2 was like watching Kirk and Spock having tea while talking about space adventures.

Finally watched the premier last night. I agree with the last spoken words in the episode -- "HOLY SHIT!!!"

That was fucking awesome! Extremely tense, action packed, and the best goddamn mass zombie killin' that has graced either the big or small screen. The SFX were damn near flawless with heads getting chopped off left and right. And the characters (with the exception of Lori) have all grown dramatically. Who'd have thought that annoying Carl could step up to be such a little badass in his own right?

Definitely looking forward to the rest of the season. Bring it on!

Enjoyed S3.1 very, very much. Lotsa zombie killins'!!! The scene inside the prison hall when they're nearly overrun was very intense.

I liked it, but I didn't completely catch why the leader man had to run inside the prison grounds at the same time the rest attracted zombies to the fence. It seemed they were doing a good enough job offing them through the fence; why not keep it up killing them all through the fence until they were all gone rather than rushing in early? other than it wouldn't have made for such dramatic television.

Plus there were more "wannabe Rambo brat has to stay behind to 'protect' the stupid feckless wimmin" and "weight of the world/respect mah authoritah/Father knows best so shaddup" leader man scenes which I could do without. I'd prefer Dale's moralizing over that stuff.

But other than that it was pretty good.

It didn't record because I told the DVR to record the same damn show on two different channels that were playing at the same time.

Now I have to wait until Friday or Saturday......

Anyone else think that the first couple layers of zombies should have been crushed before the wood fence broke in the last episode of S2? Pretty sure rotting human flesh and bone has a lower strength than wood...
