What? Are you nuts? First idea it was obviously an accident she got pregnant. Even she was upset she was pregnant.

    But putting that aside.....

The human race would go extinct if people stopped having babies just because the "rules of the game" have changed or waited until a fucking secure permanent location was setup.

And has been shown there is no such thing as a fucking secure permanent location.

So what you want is this:

    Poster 1: It was great!

    Poster 2: It sucked!

Poster 3: It was great until XXXX!

    Poster 4: It was meh....

Yeah forget about. Talk about boring. You want me to say it's great but not tell you why?

Here's a better idea: Stay out of the thread until you watch the current episodes.

Your position is as ridiculous as those who save the whole season before watching it and expect everyone to spoil tag everything or those who've never seen a movie (like... Real Genius :?:) that's been out for 20 plus years and gets upset that we aren't putting spoil tags on it.

Considering the normal rates of spontaneous abortion and miscarriage, and further considering the lack of prenatal care in the Walking Dead universe, there would probably be about an 80% or more maternal mortality rate for pregnancy given that every spontaneous abortion and miscarriage means being eaten from the inside by a zombie.

Far better to have a controlled abortion where termination of the pregnancy means immediate removal and not being eaten from the inside.

If you have a spontaneous abortion and miscarriage your not going to be eaten from the inside by a zombie for two reasons:

#1 Babies don't have teeth. The mother in question would die from blood poisoning of a rotting baby long before said baby could eat her alive.

#2 However even number one doesn't apply because the biggest reason is when you have a spontaneous abortion or a miscarriage the baby is no longer inside of you!! I've yet to hear of a spontaneous abortion or a miscarriage where the baby stays inside the mother.

If for some reason the baby somehow by a miracle got stuck in the uterus from a spontaneous abortion or miscarriage attempt the mother would again die long before the baby could eat her.

    And guess what?

People have been giving birth long before prenatal care.

    Life goes on.....

Edit: And yes I realize that miscarriage is pretty much the same as a spontaneous abortion.

I avoid this thread when I miss the episode, cuz I know there will be spoilers.

Self control, people, it goes both ways.

BD I think that was reasonably done. Like I said, I don't post any spoilers until after the midnight replay. By that time, the episode has been shown 3 times: 9 PM, 10 PM, and 12 AM.

sure there is. Sooner or later the ones who can actually think will kill off all the walkers, or so many of them as to contain the threat. Hell, the Gov's little community seems to be doing fine.

I do not mean stop having babies FOREVER. This is, what, less than a year since TSHTF? There's plenty of time to get back to breeding later.

Hey, why didn't winter destroy the zombies?

They got no bodily thermostat to fight the cold, they should have crystalized, and that freezing should have fucked them up.

Even if some zombie-virus-magic-bullshit let them thaw out without damage, the frozen zombies should have been easy pickings for slaying.

They could have taken back the farm.

In the Walking Dead universe the Zombie virus is like anti-freeze. Apparently. They've never mentioned it in the comic book. ;)

Hardly. A season is not a year. Witness Lori's pregnancy, which ended in the most recent episode and, if Shane is suspected to be the father, must have been established by the first episode.

Too bad, I was hoping both Lori and the baby wouldn't survive. I guess .500 is ok but kids (especially babies) present problems plot-wise and make the whole thing less believable, even though I'm talking about a show about the undead walking the earth and eating people. Ask yourselves how annoying Carl was the first two seasons. Admittedly he's gotten a tiny bit better this season but for the longest time he was dragging down the show. Now we have a baby? Ugh. Plus it would have been great to see Rick really go off the deep end.

Love how they replaced token black guy with....token black guy. As soon as T-Bone started getting all moral and was given a voice I was like, "welp, he's fucked."

I find the guy playing the Governor to be a very good actor. I like where all that is going. I'm looking forward to the reunification of Rick and Merle, you know it's going to happen.

If we're really lucky the baby dies in its sleep and bites Carl when he goes to pick her up. If things merely go as expected that baby's not all that long for the walking Dead world.

I have to disagree there. They've already established that even slight noises will draw zombies, right? Well, what do babies do every time they're hungry. soil themselves, go to sleep, or wake up? Make lots and lots of noise. Seems to me having a baby would be dangerous for everyone in the group.

Story-wise, I wouldn't be surprised if babies are born virus-free or something and therefore represent the bright new future of humanity or some shit like that. You know, like in The Stand. Just guessing, though.

One thing we do know, at some point between seasons, the writers read Cormac McArthy's The Road.

Yeah except humans don't work like that. There are a lot of survivors out there. No doubt hooking up without any protection against pregnancy.

It's going to happen. You can't stop it. We are hardwired to have kids.

Welcome to what it's like for every part of the world that isn't the Eastern coast of the US. Once something has aired you need to stay out of discussion of it until you're caught up.

To Diacanu: As for winter, this is Georgia, not Maine, while they will have a dormant season, it won't be near as cold, so it is conceivable that the walkers could survive a southern winter, shrugging off a few frosts.

Did anyone else notice Carl doing a not too shabby job in clearing the prison as they were fleeing the zombies? Carl is acting like a 12 year old that is having to grow up too fast and handling it well.

Well, this is where a dog-eared copy of World War Z would come in handy in that universe.

Fuck the south, go north until the zombies crisp up.

Jokes on you when the zombies are still moving about somehow despite being frozen and they are now even harder to kill.

They aren't in the World War Z dimension.

And the comics have shown that even in deep winter Zombies are up and about eating people.

    Just watched episode 4.

This show is so good, but, damn, it puts the characters you care about through the ringer.

The ending of this ep was just heart-rending. For emotional impact, it even topped the resolution of the search for Sophia from last season.

Oh, and about T-Dog--who seemed to be of little consequence in most episodes, but had the most heroic of demises--I'm reminded of Macbeth:

I'm getting okay with Carl. He's getting his Junior Badass merit badge.

As for the baby, I'm really hoping that some plot point develops which leads to Rick having the opportunity to leave the baby with foster parents to take care of it while they go about their business.

I had thought that the inevitable plotline would be the Governor making the pitch to Lori that she should stay in the town with him to raise the baby, well that's out. So now I'm rethinking the eventual conflict between the Rick and the Governor. Will it be motivated by Merle's need for revenge? Or will he make that pitch to Carl, dividing father and son? Or will Rick see the town as the perfect place for his children and buy in with the Governor's authoritarian methods?

Are you serious? I'm barely willing to cut her some slack for getting with Shane as soon Rick was out of pocket.... but the way she played Shane and Rick against each other afterwards? Had she not been giving mixed signals to Shane in season 2, he probably wouldn't have went all crazy on Rick and would probably still be alive.
