You do realize that this trailer now isn't designed for the Star Trek audience, but for the Fast and Furious fans. That's why they put the emphasis on "the director of...", some action elements and loud modern music.

The tone of the final trailer will be different.

I think they're just using the song to pump the action up even more. You know, total sensory overload and all. Next time they might use Fusioncore-Mathmetal-Deathhop-Crossover which basically means a constant 100 Hz tone. The only CD ever was sold to a hipster for 200.000 euros and he's been more than happy with all the total irony wins it scored him so far.

The less I say about the truly awful Star Trek Beyond trailer the better. I'll instead leave it to my friends at the Washington Post.

They never bothered me in the first place, so I didn't even notice they were gone or not as noticeable in the shots used in the trailer.

This trailer is a fast paced, frenetic and flashy sign. All it does is say "THERE IS A NEW STAR TREK MOVIE COMING SOON! YOU MUST SEE IT!"
We won't see the more in-depth trailers until later. This trailer's sole purpose is to raise awareness. It is doing its job. People who expect more out of a teaser trailer might as well get angry when the backcover blurb of a book doesn't lay out the entire story in excruciating detail.

Unfortunately, we've heard this kind of shit before. The fans get lip-service, but what's put on the screen is not for them.

Seriously. Yeah the trailer was shit, but I'll hold my judgments on the film until I actually see it.

I have a feeling that the writers, directors, and producers of the current Star Trek movies are terribly worried that Paramount is going to accuse them of "pandering to the fan boys" if a movie tanks.

From what I've read, Paramount after "Into Darkness" decided that the Star Trek movies weren't making enough money. That they should be up to the level of the Marvel based superhero movies.
