At least they know where it is....mostly.

There are rumblings that it might have been shot down by pro-Russian separatists.

If not, then it seems likely there is either (1) some unnoticed critical design flaw in the 777 or (2) something improper in the way Malaysian Airlines is maintaining them.

Apparently it was shot down.

I'm not up to date on the Ukrainian clusterfuck. The pro-Russian militias are just the Russian army in different gear, right?

Yeah, this is being reported everywhere as "Plane Shot Down Over Ukraine."

Perhaps Flight 370 has finally emerged from the mini black hole it went into over the Indian Ocean and has crashed into a Ukranian field.

Pretty much, although supplemented by local thugs who may have incorrectly read the metaphorical tea leaves. Things are unfolding pretty much how I predicted they would. Putin is not benefiting from the Crimean annexation, and it is going to get very ugly for him and his legacy. He will be known to Russians as the man who lost Ukraine.

Downed by the Russians by mistake is the most likely IMO. This is the third plane to go down in this region in the past few weeks and the technology it would take to down a plane this size is most likely a long range surface to air missile. What's more, as soon as it happened Putin was on the phone to Obama to declare it an accident. Whole thing smells bad to me.

I wouldn't put it past the known neo Nazi thugs in Kiev to send thugs into East Ukraine dressed as separatists to shoot down an airliner and frame the rebels, thus causing the whole world to despise, ban, and act against the rebels.
